Welcome
We are delighted to welcome you to the new Higher Education Entrepreneurship Group (HEEG) website. We hope this site will become a useful resource for informing you about us, our activities and those of others in the area of entrepreneurship education.
About Us
HEEG is first and foremost a regional network of individuals from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across South East England working in partnership with SEEDA, Business Link, AGCAS and other interested parties.
Our HEI members include academic staff, business development or entrepreneurship professionals, careers service staff, knowledge transfer individuals, senior managers, students union representatives, as well as occasional students.
Aims and Objectives of HEEG
Our purpose: to develop and exploit the entrepreneurial skills base of the regional economy
Our aim: to increase the capacities and capabilities of Higher Education to develop more enterprising students and more graduate business start ups through up-skilling staff and sharing best practice
Our objectives:
1. to create alignments within Higher Education Institutions of all staff who work in the broad area of entrepreneurship
2. to provide opportunities for entrepreneurship staff to exchange experiences with world class entrepreneurship scholars and practitioners
3. to develop a more effective partnership for entrepreneurship with public and private business support organisations in the region
4. to develop and raise the potential of entrepreneurs through academic/business partnerships
Brief Background
The group was established in 2004 by SEEDA. Christina Hartshorn (Head of Leadership and Entrepreneurship, SEEDA) and Dr Tiziana Boyland (Knowledge Transfer Liaison Manager, Learning and Skills Division) played key roles in this process and continue to provide strong support.
Since December 2006 the network has been managed directly by the group. Our activities are informed and guided by our Steering Committee composed of representatives from HEIs and partners from around the region. HEEG continues to be supported and funded by SEEDA, and makes a contribution to SEEDAs Regional Economic Strategy (RES).
